We are the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT-HR). Our members come from all facets of the international trade community, with many experienced professionals in finance, customs and trade law, trade education, port administration, marketing, trade consulting, intermodal transportation, logistics, customs brokerage, international business development, and the import/export business. We welcome women and men from these and related disciplines who can add to the body of knowledge and experience of the group, helping one another through networking at OWIT-HR events and through one-on-one meetings.
The heart of any professional organization is in its membership. Our members network and connect, sharing ideas, answering questions, and proposing business opportunities. As the regulatory environment and infrastructures change in our marketplace, we focus on these developments and provide our members with first-hand knowledge and experience that help us to adapt appropriately within our own businesses.
We facilitate connections and sharing of knowledge and expertise through regular meetings, social gatherings, and co-sponsorship of special events with The Virginia Port Authority, Old Dominion University, OWIT's national organization, and other regional and local trade organizations. Past activities have included tours of the Port of Virginia and speaking engagements featuring officials from Washington, D.C.
